We specialize in fabricating complete dentures. Complete dentures are not a replacement for teeth, but instead are a replacement for NO teeth.

There is a multitude of reasons why someone can lose their teeth. Know that this is a common issue affecting Canadians, and that you are not alone. However, many issues arise as a result of having no teeth.

The benefits of wearing a complete denture can be more than just aesthetics, but can help with the function of eating resulting in overall better nutrition. In this way, complete dentures not only assist in oral health, but our body's systemic health as well.

We can fabricate Partial Dentures. This occurs in cases where some natural teeth are present, but we are looking to replace lost teeth with a removable denture prosthetic.

In order to determine that the remaining teeth are healthy and strong enough to support a Partial Denture, we require patients to visit their Dentist and receive an authorization / prescription for a Partial Denture. Once we receive the authorization showing that the remaining teeth are healthy, we can then complete all following appointments for the denture fabrication in-house.

Have you had a denture fabricated in the last year or two and notice that it just isnt fitting like it used to? Perhaps you need to consider a reline.

A reline replaces the pink acrylic that contacts the gum tissues, to provide a more intimate fit as bone resorbs naturally over time.

During a reline, we take a new impression inside of your denture to capture the new contour of your bone and supporting tissues. We then replace the impression material with new pink acrylic, creating a better fit.

Note: Just like a new denture, relines can cause some pain and discomfort initially due to the new tighter fit. Just like getting a new pair of shoes, our body's tissues need to learn and adjust to this new fit, and sometimes that takes time, patients, and practice. If pain is lasting, or resulting in any blistering or excessive redness then please do not hesitate to come in for a free check-up.

Breaks can happen for many reasons; often its due to mishandling of the denture outside of the mouth, but often it can happen because the fit has changed overtime as bone resorbs. If a denture is breaking due to fit changes, or wearing down of the denture teeth or acrylic, it may be wise to consider a reline or a better fit, or a new denture entirely. The last thing we want is for someone to have a denture breaking continuously, paying for repairs and avoiding the reason behind the break, therefore it is sometimes recommended to invest in a new denture entirely.

Do you need to extract some compromised teeth, but do not want to go with gaps or without teeth entirely?

We can fabricate an immediate denture which we can provide to you or your dentist for the extraction appointment. This way you never have to go without teeth. Additionally, it acts as a bandage over the tooth extraction sites, limiting swelling and promoting healing.

We work hand-in-hand with your dentist to treatment plan for the denture fabrication, extractions procedures, and delivery of the new denture.

For an immediate denture, we require a dentist to provide authorization / prescription for an immediate denture to be fabricated PRIOR to extractions. We would then meet at Arbutus Denture clinic, and would take an impression of the mouth including the teeth to be extracted, which we would use as a model to create the immediate denture. Please note that dentures take time to fabricate, which should be considered in the timeline when booking the actual extraction appointment dates.
